Düsseldorf- Pride & Prejudice
Seriously, I really need a break from reading all these articles about Deutsche Bahn, I can neither hear nor read this word anymore (you probably feel the same) and I simply don’t feel like drawing my attention to my favorite train company this week. I would much rather like to shift from customer relations to public relations this time, inspired by the blog post of NerdyLaura reporting about the recent event of the ESC hosted in Düsseldorf, my hometown.
I found it extremely striking what a negative image Düsseldorf has in the media and how the latter obviously amplifies this. Even before the event took place, the headlines in the news were shattering: „Wieso nicht in Berlin, in der O2 World ? Düsseldorf ist doch Körperverletzung !“
„Na super, Düsseldorf! Was für ein Armutszeugnis für Deutschland. Der ESC hätte nach Berlin gehört.” or, if I may quote Harald Schmidt, who in his TV show referred to the city as „ The Pakistan of Germany“
Ok, Düsseldorf is not a metropolitan city as Berlin, not as diverse, liberal or alternative, but seriously, what’s wrong with this city? What’s up with the destructive image?
